Message:   Jimmy may be right or not, just depends......

If you are dealing with a stock castiron intake
you will find changing to the 4v carb you may have to
extend the kickdown arm by a inch or more to get the
throw you need (at the carb).

If you used a aftermarket or MP intake that has a highrise, you may have to use the cable to make it work right.

Part of this (above) will also depend on which type of linkage your truck has.
Bell crank (2 kinds) or single arm with adjuster.
ether of the above needs to close to level to
the carb, anything with much of a angle with give problems.

Best way to check to see if your getting the full throw on the arm is to get a helper to move the linkage, front to rear, at the carb and get under the truck....
remove the kickdown arm linkage from the arm on the trans, have your helper move the carb throttle to limit front to back, see were your trans arm lines up
with the linkage arm.
I am willing to bet that your kickdown arm is not returning all the way back to the front and is keeping
the trans arm too far back. By extending the arm by a inch or two you will gain the clearance you need to get a full throw of the arm.
