The turns suffer anyway no matter if the ratios were equal or unequal either way. That's just the nature of the beast. The moment you start turning all 4 tires are moving at different speeds and a different arc. The tire size also comes into play which no one has yet mentioned. If you had Dana 60's front and rear you would have the exact same ratio. It's as Terry stated above. There just isn't any other choices. That's the reason they go both ways and in the case of the Ford in an earlier post, the closet ratio available with a bigger difference than in ours.
