Message:   I have 16.5 Dakota Futura (Cooper) tires. It seems that they are getting harder and harder to find, but are every affordable when you do find a set.
My gut feeling is that they are disappearing as more and more tires are available in 17" and 18" sizes.
The issue with me is sidewall height, for an off road tire it should be as close to 50% as possible. In other words, if you are running 35" tires, your wheel diameter should be 17" to 18" . 33" tires, 16" or 17". These combinations seem to work best for side wall flex when aired down. Anyone who has run 44" tires on a 15" wheel can tell you how poorly that vehicle performs when aired down and driving on a side hill.....= )
It's expensive and hard to find a decent off road wheel in the larger sizes, most of them have too much Bling and too high of a price tag...
