ok, so im stubborn, i flat refused to believe that this is just the way my poly is gonna run with an automatic. so once again im outside staring at this Biotch trying to figure out whats wrong. im talking to dad on the cell, complaining about it, and the sad dissapointment i had with the carb swap. then he asks "is there something binding, or blocking any of the linkage" of course not, i have checked all that. so we talk for a while, going over everything i have already done, and in my figitty natural state im playing with the carb linkage. DOH!!! MUTHA F$%#$#!$@#! the back butterflies are NOT opening. as i work the linkage, i watch the primaries open, then about a 3rd of the way thru when the secondaries start to kick in they stop, and the spring loaded linkage kicks in to let the primaries continue on thier way. WTF???? ok, now i feel really stupid, and mad, and happy all at the same time. so the carb comes off. i find the secondary lower butterfly is hitting the carb spacer. not by much, but enough to keep them from opening and feeding the truck with secondary fuel flow. HMMMMMMMM, lets see just how stupid trey has been. back on goes the 600 i took off sunday. what do you know, it does exactly the same thing. so, in the past year, year and a half, i have owned the truck. not only have i only been running off 2 barrels, but my dumb a$$ jetted them down to try and improove my performance. DOH!!!!!so out comes the razor knife, and a put a slight taper on the back 2 openings of the carb spacer. WHA LAAAA!!!! all four barrels open as they should. in a very rapid, excited hurry it all gets back togather and i fire it up, hit the throttle and wow, theres a sound i have never heard. the secondaries opened and tryed to suck the air cleaner thru the engine. NOW, it runs like a poly with an auto tranny. NOW, im satisfied thats as good as it gets. NOW, i have publically admited im a dumb a$$ in the hopes that this may keep someone else from going thru the same hell i have. someone posted they are having the same issues i am having with thier poly. if you are useing a 4 hole spacer, check it out, you may have the same prob i had.
