Message:   There has not been a new refinery built in the US in 30 years.
I know you've posted about seeing refineries all over the place in your travels, but they aren't new, or they aren't refineries.
What he posted is correct, environmental regulations stymie the market place by restricting what fuel can be use where.
Most oil is going to china and India, there are no longer American oil companies drilling for oil all over the world. Thess oil wells were nationalized and taken over by the nations that own them, Our oil companies have to bid on the open market against foreign bidders to try and buy the cheapest oil. In the US, by EPA regulations, we must use the "Sweet" light crude, we can't use high sulfur crude without prohibitive
refining costs.
If there is a villain here it's the commodities profiteers and the environmental regs.
