Message:   I suspect it is something like this car. It sounds like it will be ready for production early this year. If you read through the article, they started with a small diesel, but were unable to have it meet the strict emission regulations in the peoples republic of CA.

Sorry, but the mythical "heat the gas till they vaporize in a big block 5000lbs car and get 150mpg" are nothing more than that . . . . . mythical. Modern fuel injection does basically that already.

The only way to achieve tripple digit mileage is a very small, aerodynamic, light weight car that can take advantage of electricty generated from multiple sources - electric brakes, solar, small motor powering a genset/battery bank, fuel cell technology etc. The calculations for mpg get a little "fuzzy" because it is dificult to calculate where some of the energy came from in the calculation. Did the 300mph come from electricity that was generated from the solar cell on the roof, the 110v outlet in your garage used to charge the battery, or the fuel put in the tank to run the small engine used to power the generator.

There may be some hope with "real" fuel cell technology, but it is unlikely that the ambulence chasers in this country will ever allow a pressurized hydrogen bottle in a car that carries passengers.
