Message:   There were 2 different brake masters used in those yrs. The rectangular one was probably used on the larger trucks like Dan's D300 and my W300. The round one does look like a clutch master. However, the piston inside is totally different.
The RPV is located inside the outlet port, where the brake line attaches. U have to remove the brass flare seat to see the RPV. As I said, it is SUPPOSED to be there. Ive bought new ones without them. Yes, as Matt said, the purpose is to release the brakes slowly.
As Jimmy said, it should be common knowledge for anyone who reads the freakin manual! It even has pictures for those who have trouble reading.
