Message:   My gut feeling is that you just got a lemon.
As a general rule a gasser cannot come close to a diesel in economical operation, in both engine longevity and fuel economy.
Yes, the issues you listed have become well known, but seldom all on one truck.
You may have been the victim of a second shift truck or just had incredibly bad luck.
