Message:   I believe the bed wood was painted black but as with anything Dodge that's up for grabs. When I did my 59 W200 I used Mar-K for the wood, bed strips, bed side angles and bolt kit. The parts where excellent with a perfect fit. I used a Minwax product recomended by their tech support but I don't remember what it was called. A case of CRS I guess. I sanded lightly as the wood was already sanded but it's best to break the edges first. It depends on what your end use will be. If you want show only go with a clear finish. If you are looking for originality and a work surface go with paint. In my case I couldn't bring myself to paint that beautiful oak. I painted my strips body color in my case Dodge Truck Red. The wood recieved three coats with sanding in between coats and wiped with a tack rag.
