Message:   I was able to get a new complete cable assembly from NAPA some years back, around '99 or so. However in the description it appears that this may not be the problem. There's very litle resistance in the cable housing compared to the strength of the spiral wound steel drive inner cable therefore they rarely break. What you describe is more typical of a speeometer head needing lubricant, not getting it, and then shearing off the speedo drive pinion!

Remove the cable from back of speedo head and carefully insert a small straight blade screw driver and give it a spin, ccw I think. Sometimes you can turn it without a screwdriver. If the needle doesn't jump it's speedo time, bro.....

If it's the round 3 3/8" S/W speedo I have one I'm removing from the Town Wagon.
