Message:   Hi All,
Drove to Palmyra this morning to check out the "18000 actual miles D100". After a brief inspection I determined the actual mileage was probably more like 318,000. A decently straight truck but way too much rust-drivers side step was rotten, lower cowl panels above front fenders rusty, bed floor almost non-existent, lower tailgate gone, lower front fenders rusty, and even the roof above the drip rail was rusted thru-looks like it might have hauled a lot of fertilizer.
Truck was a base model long bed with a slant, 3 speed column shift and a 3:23 8.75 rear in a very pleasing orange-red color.
Other negatives-drivers side front seat down to springs, starter and alternator had been replaced(only 18000 miles?) brake pedal on the floor, every wire underneath the hood chewed in two, motor would not turn over by hand (I watched a big ol' boy by the name of "Bubba" try to turn it over-not our Bubba from Tennessee though), brake and clutch pedal had a lot of wear on them, heater controls broken and laying in floor of cab-well you get the picture. Not indicative of an 18000 mile truck.
I didn't even stick around to see what it sold for.
But all was not lost-it was a beautiful day to take a drive in the country and blow the soot out of my wifes 300M.
Thanks to Rob for the heads up on the auction. I'll just have to keep looking.
Started to talk to the auction folks about misrepresentation but figured it wasn't worth the time.
Todd
