Message:   Looking at my 61 swb (junkyard special) I see the strength girder for slant six which is bolted to the bellhousing and attached to the engine block. I suppose this is for block support ie,.. mounts etc,. ????

I am going to put a 318 in its place. I am keeping the low mileage 170 in case I want it factory bone stock some day in the future.

My LA 318 replacement engine does have the crank insert for manual transmission.

I intend to use the existing slant six bell housing, and the three speed transmission which for the moment is still the power+- (LOL) team in the 61.

Other than exhaust and maybe a wire or two,........ and using an appropriate pressure plate and throwout bearing is there a problem.?

I figure ask first, especially after looking at those strentheners which come off the bellhousing. Gordo
