Message:   there are many factors that made Dan's get-together a success. in my opinion the big reason is coninciding the get-together with a big event like the Mopar Nationals is probably why.

sure we're all die hard swepline fans but without an "anchor" event it is tough to justify to huge amount of time and money it would take for each of us to come a considerable distance and get together. maybe this is why Camp Dodge did not work where "Camp Goldie" and timing it with the Mopar Nationals did.

i know for a fact that if it was not for coinciding the get-together with the Mopar Nats that i personally would not have been able to make it.

i have been visiting and contributing to the sweptline sites since 98 or 99 and have seen all the different iterations of all the sites. i clearly remember the struggles of people trying to coordinate Camp Dodge and was sad to see it not happen for all those involved.

in my little corner of the sweptline world i have worked very hard to educate people on the meaning of CSS and HPP at a considerable time and money expense to myself - that is why i sell stuff on CafePress in an effort to offset those costs. Kris W, Norm and Scott can all attest to the costs of running a site in regards to both time AND money. i didn't start the CSS Registry for money but out of the love and respect for the truck i grew up with and especially for meeting all the fine men and women who own them.

i am, and have been, here to help. i am sure Norm and the others are as well. i firmly feel we all make a difference in this hobby and there are thousands of people who have yet to hit the net to find us. i met dozens of them while i was standing in front of Terry's truck at the Nats who had no idea we are out here.

IMHO the simple truth is the event at Dan's was a success because people showed up for the Nats AND the get-together. Plus Dan was gracious enough to host it and grill up some good eats.

i too visit this site and plenty of other mopar sites everyday and am honored to be an active contributor.

Thanks Norm for allowing us the opportunity to voice our opinions - i fully agree with Gary in the apsect that when the swptline community was down and out you stepped in and kept us alive.

thanks - Ben
