Message:   Actually, the filter traps A LOT of dust.
Most guys forget the purpose of the vent is NOT to let air OUT, but to let air IN, as the fuel is consumed by the engine. Otherwise, it would create a vacuum in the tank, which will cause the tank to collape or the cessation of fuel flow to the engine.
The only time air will flow OUT of the tank is during refueling. That air is sucked up by the wonderful vapor recovery fuel nozzle on the gas pump.
Ever watch a kid sucking juice out of those juice bags with a straw? What happens to the bag?
