Message:   What I observed yesterday was this. Both caps had two cast raised pieces 180 degrees from each other that fit in the slots in the filler neck on the truck. 90 degrees from these two are spring tits that are pushed in as you insert the cap into the neck, and then pop out to lock under the lip around the inside of the neck. They are retracted with the key so you can remove the cap. Neither the early cap nor the late cap would push down far enough into the neck to lock into the neck yesterday. I got a part number for an Autozone cap on another site that I will try tomorrow. Davey
