Message:   From a machining/metalworking book I use for reference: When aluminums are etchedusing sodium hydroxide solutions, one of the reaction products is hydrogen gas, which is highly explosive when mixed with normal air."
"The etching action is relatively rapid, especially if the sodium hydroxide solution is above 1/16 (1 lye to 15 water). Strong solutions produce a violent foaming reaction and substantial amounts of hydrogen gas."

LOTS of ventilation if doing any aluminum. Breathing the fumes gives the effect of a gorilla grabbing you by the windpipe. If you are in a garage even with an open door use a fan. Trust me on this.

Above ingrediants in a plastic soda bottle with the cap screwed on reportedly will make a very loud sound. Or so I've heard.
