By 1970, the only spec was that ALL models used 90w Gear OIL. All mention of "grease" was gone. Except it was still mentioned in the Owner's manual, but not the FSM. Ya, damn confusing. My experience has been that the top bearing never gets lubed with oil, unless of course u roll your truck. I just grease mine, fill the box with oil and be done with it.
