Message:   More than confusing then. It specs gear oil and then it specs gear lube, supposedly meaning grease? I do know that heavy weight gear oil will congeal into something much like grease and that coud plug the inspection hole and need to be pushed away.

There's something wrong with the picture because my particular gearbox has a 3 bolt cover where the sector shaft adjustment screw is and next to one of the bolts, cast into housing, it says Fluid Level or something like that. I'll check in the daylight today.

The 1948 manual for the same type of gearbox clearly states 90Wt gear OIL.
