Message:   Lifetime warranty dont mean jack. It will still fail in a few yrs or less. U just wont have to pay for the replacement, but the effort will be the same. I finally got smart and installed cylinders lined with stainless steel. I dont expect those to EVER wear out.
The pedal is returned by the pressure plate spring. There is an overcenter spring on the pedal itself. If the clutch is out of adjustment, the pedal wont return past center, which means the overcenter spring wont return it all the way back up, but rather, it will put it back to the floor. This spring helps reduce the leg effort needed to disengage the clutch.
That being said, the problem is usually a worn master and/or slave cylinder. Like Jimmie said, brake and clutch masters are NOT the same, altho they may look the same.
