Message:   I don't know about 71 for sure, but the left mirror was standard equipment for most of the sweptline years. The right mirror was optional. I don't think the right door was pre-screwed unless the factory order form from Dealer had the right mirror marked as an extra cost option. I am even thinkin the inside mirror was an option in the early sixties. The west coat mirror was optional and came painted. The brite mirrors were mostly after/market and were dealer installed. My recollection on brite mirrors from factory is un-clear. .... The factory may have had a brite as well as a painted west coast style. But most west coast were, after/market and were dealer installed.

The reason was not always because they were more attractive, (they usually were thought to be) but here is why,..!!
The markup was greater for the dealer, and the salesman got a extra "spiff" for leading the purchaser to the dealer installed group of accessories.

Source,... Gordo sold cars (GM and Mopar) and then got promoted to Sales/manager for local dealer during that period of time. Gordo
