Message:   I just opened today's mail and received a very nice letter and DTA Membership from Per.
I was going to scan it but Per is worried about his English (it's very good!), so I decided to just copy it down here with a few items "Americanized".
The Letter Head has the following logos,
The Emblem of the American Car Drivers Club, of Vestfold, Norway, the logo of the Walter P. Chrysler Club of Norway and the emblem of the American Car Club.
Per's letter begins:

Hello Sweptguys!
I want to be a member of DTA (I think he is IN! Ed)
My little story of my family loving truck!
It is a part of my family!
He came from Texas to Norway in 1972, via a Norwegian farmer.
I have owned this '68 D100 for 27 years. Restored it from 1980 to 1984 the first time. The car was in very bad condition, with much heavy rust. It was a Flintstones car. There were very bad steps, I made new ones from stainless steel.
After a front crash, three years ago, I got a container of parts from BNC, a new bumper from Sweden, sent it to Polen to be chromed, along with other parts. So he is on the road again, new restored.
I also have a '86 Hawk camper. I bought this new, but it was built bad, full of leaks, so I also restored it from the ground up.
My D100 is built up with D200 springs.
Original motor was a slant 6 and 3 speed manual. It worked very fine, but V-8 and automatic was the thing for me, so I bored up a 1971, 318 block. 9.2 comp ratio, 248 duration, Crane cam, 360 heads and 2 bbl Holly 2245 carb.
Later I found this nearly same combination in Hot Rod Mag, so I think I did this correctly.
I have also rebuilt the rear axle from 4.10 to a 3.23 limited slip, so this combination has a very nice use of gas, because of our heavy gas prices here in Norway.
Until two years ago, it was the only 68 D100 in Norway, now there are 2.
I have also bought a 71 D100 Sweptline in very good condition from Idaho. It's on the sea at the moment. I think we have only a firetruck of that year here.
I think this Dodge is a winner truck. I have won many trophies with the truck!
In the future, I hope I can build power steering and disc brakes.
I use my D100 summer and winter. This summer my wife and I cruised in Norway and Sweden to different cars shows.
I hope you want me to be a Sweptliner.
A real Swept from,
Per Garvag

Well guys... THAT was a great story! Per is about the MOST dedicated Truck Guy I can think of, with the effort he went to, TWICE, to keep his Sweptline on the road!
I think we should ask for permission to join Per, not he, to join us!

Great story and great letter Per, thank you!
There is a disc along with the letter also, I haven't looked at it yet, but I can't wait to load it in the morning!
