Message:   Trust me, there's no open passages. It ran 70+ PSI from the first fire up. I finally cut it to about 55 since 70 is more than I would need. I have the deep truck pan and always drain hot. I wondered if letting it drain for a long time would allow the pickup tube to drain? Tried not doing that and the first time it was OK. Second time lost the prime again. I always fill the filters before I put it back on. I have tried several different things to prevent it. The only reliable way I have had to make sure it always primed was to put a couple squirts of oil in the pump. I also tried changing the filter before I drained the pan but that did not help either.
