Message:   About the only way to know tire diameter for sure is to mount them up & air them up. Manufacturers don't all stick to an exact diameter & dimension because of individual tire design. 235-75-15 should be roughly 29" tall when mounted, but may be anywhere from 28.5" to 29.5".

Tubeless tires were available clear back in '49 but became standard equipment in some cars in '55 [Packard and Thunderbird] with the rest of the mfgr's following suit for 1956.
