Message:   You won't need a special tool to remove it but you will need a regular slide hammer. You probably can improvise if you don't have one. To remove the pump:
1. Tighten the front band adjustment until the band is tight on the front clutch retainer to prevent it from coming out with the pump.
2. Remove the pump housing bolts.
3. Screw two long bolts into the threaded holes in the pump flange. Put a lock nut on each bolt to keep it tight in the pump.
4. Use a slide hammer on the bolt heads to gently pull the pump out. Keep the pump as straight as possible while alternating from side to side. Barely move it each time. The correct tool to do this is two long bolts with a slide on each one so you can bump it out straight.
