You might want to confirm the gear ratio of your
rear axle first. It might be a 3:91, 4:10 or 4:88...
all of which would contribute to higher RPMs. A four
speed from a car would probably not be a "top loader"
and you'd have to change your floor shift set up.
As each tranny [truck & auto] likely has a final
drive ratio of 1:1 in 4th gear, you might be better
served to knock your axle ratio down unless you can
find an overdrive tranny [NP541?] that would bolt in
with a few slight modifications. Other things such as
input shaft length & diameter will be crucial as well.
