Message:   Matt, I've mentioned this before, but I'll mention it again since this subject comes up occasionally. Rear wheel drive Chrysler vehicles like Fifth Avenues and Diplomats from the eighties came with 78 amp alternators. They are cheap at AutoZone and come with a lifetime warranty. If you already have a two field wire alternator I'd get the correct later model regulator for it. It might take a junk yard visit to get the wiring with the plug but I recommend doing it. A good fully charged battery should sit for two-three weeks and then crank an engine easily. If it won't either something is draining it or it's a bad battery.
