Message:   Ok first, Daimler we are getting a divorce. Then we are going to sue for all our money back that you stole and pissed away on stupid things. In the process we are asking for custody of Freightliner and Sterling. Sorry Sterling, but your name is gone and will be Dodge. The Sprinter Can/Van. Its ugly, so Mercedes you can keep it. You can keep Detroit Diesel too and your blue tec diesel. We have Cummins.
The capability to bring a full size light duty diesel truck to market exist. When Dodge did this in 89 its took very little work to make it happen. So Cummins 4 Cylinder diesels will be offered in Ram 1500/2500 that should get 30+ mpg. Now we have a fuel efficient truck that can still get the job done. Also we need to increase the payload and towing on the 1500s. Good bye to the hard plastic interiors and the seats that are hard as rocks and the dashboard that looks like angry cereal boxes glued together. As a body in white designer from Chrysler told me once you have 2 design elements for vehicles. Curves and lines. Curves you see the vehicle in a different way everytime. Basically its moving while sitting still. Lines just give you a blah look. So the Rams will get softening of curves and good bye to those ugly headlights. The Ram refresh in 2009 will be the Power Wagon concept truck.
Durango. You guys messed that vehicle up. Same philosophy as for the Ram.
Dakota Same as above, but you were once a cheap smaller truck. We are going to take you back to your roots and make you easier on gas. Dakotas are close to price as Rams and fuel mileage. Makes no sense.
Lx cars. First I would fire Ralph Giles, Gelles or however you spell it. We are making cars for the general public, not Snoop Dogg. You don't know to design. Tom Gale and Bob Lutz, please come back. Bob will be president of the company. Tom will run design. Iaccoca will be around for moral support. Dennis Pawley will come back for his expertise in manufacturing. Sorry back to LX cars. That thing you call a Charger is not a Charger. Its an insult. The car will go from a Cordoba Buick look to a Charger look like the 69/70 Chargers with a comfortable interior.
Challenger, don't touch it but would produce more in the first year with an array of engine choices.
The 300C I'm not sure what to do with yet. But will add a New Yorker to the mix with tuck and rolled leather seats like my Fifth Avenue.
The Caliber is a ugly. Make it look more retro to something out of the 30s and 40s. Nostalga sells.
That platform will be shared with the Chrysler PT Cruiser with elements to make the 2 look seperate.
Jeep Compass...you are a car not an offroader..killed.
Jeep Commander, ugly Real Jeeps have round headlights. They don't sell and we have the Grand Cherokee. Kill the Commander off.
Jeep Grand Cherokee. Give it round headlights.
Jeep Liberty, since it replaced the Cherokee bring that name back and make it just a little longer.
Dodge Stratus/Avenger. They can't make up their mind what to name you, so I'm going to call you Dart. Change the seats.
Chrysler Sebring. Mainly I'm talking convertibles. I always associated the name LeBaron with convertible Chryslers. That name comes back.
Plymouth. Entry level small cars. Plymouth was always known for cheaper low end cars. Probably bring that name back.
Now since American put Japanese on a pedestal, I would switch all the suppliers to Japanese. Most Japanese suppliers are now based in the USA.
Every Chrysler car/truck has its own set of switches buttons and HVAC. Back in the 70s and 80s, they were all the same. Basically dump platform engineering to a certain extent. More component sharing across the board.
The smaller cars. I would do a joint venture with Honda. The underside of the car/engine would be supplied from them. The upside would be Chrysler. Let's face American car companies never had much luck building small cars.
Corporate stealing. When I worked for Chrysler in Dayton a little slush fund was down there. About a million bucks every year would get diverted into this fund. Big wigs in Dayton would use that money for new homes, cars, landscaping, home additions and vacations. That would stop.
Bring back the slant six. A good cheap reliable efficient engine. With today's technology that engine would be a good engine for the Rams, Dakotas, Durangos and Jeeps. Build this engine in Dundee Michigan at the new engine plant as well as the Hemi.
All Mexican plants closed. We are a US company we build our products here with American labor.
Acquire Mitsubishi, change name to Chrysler Europe quit making Mitsubishis and have them make all Chrysler vehicles for the European market. European sales would increase.
Now Chrysler is fixed.
