Message:   I recall the old Tecalamit-Jackson & Enderle injection systems, both mechanical. Bosch also did a mechanical on the early non-turbo Mercedes if memory serves me. I think one of the main differences using those types of FI was atomization, much better with a direct injector shot into cylinder and ram air pushing it than a carbureted system.

Pump shot can be timed off of BTDC cam [added to crank] as purely mechanical, no electronics needed.

Then again, maybe shave the heck out of the decks & heads, screw the injectors in the spark plug holes & build a mean Poly diesel....
