Message:   I had a the same type of problem and I took the top off the carb and found some white crystalized looking stuff in there. I think the gas was ethanol and when it evaporated in the carb from sparse use, it left that crap behind and caused the float to stick down/open. I cleaned it all out and put in regular 87 without the alcohol and it has ran pretty good since.
