Message:   even with those you are still dealing with 2 layers of steel in effect doubling thickness over stock. so if it is .030 thicker, you increase the size of the combustion chamber probably by .25 to .45 cubic inches. still ALOT. resluting in power loss. you cant get the head any closer to the block than with a single shim gasket unless you run NO gasket ;/) . I have read in old manuals where they recommended stacking of the shim type gaskets in order to reduce compression if vehicle was to be used in an area of the world with lower octane fuels.
