Message:   I don't think anybody knows TQ's like Dave does and he builds nice carbs. That said, they always start out life used, from a hoepfully good casting.

Problem I see is the application, this is a TRUCK, not a 3,000 lbs. Dart! If you only told Dave you were going with a hot crate motor then he'd recommend a street/strip racing carb, for a door slammer, because that's what he's justifiably famous for!

A truck is a whole different kettle of fish, requiring an entirely different stup, unless you just want to race. He spec'd you out for horsepower, but in a truck you want strong bottom end torque and midrange, forget the 8,000 rpm stuff!

I won't blame it on Dave, but that's absolutely the wrong carb, unless you're going for some serious racing. The manifold isn't the best choice either. Doubt it's a dual plane, or even the next step up, more like a Victor? Yes, long runners for some hope of bottom end off the line, but in racing that's still at 3,000 rpm minimum, not street truck revs.

Any 850 TQ by dave will feed a strong 440.

An Edelbrock 1406 on a 2176 manifold will give all kinds of power and torque out of that 360 engine. My last V8 was a '79 360-3, mildly ported 596 heads, 280 cam, Eddie 2176 manifold/1406 carb w/ intake spacers, MSD 6/Mopar, Accel Super Coil, Crane advance kit, Accel solid core wires, Mallory full competition fuel pump/filter system, Hedman Hedders to 2 1/2" full flow exhaust through '66 hemi muffs and much more.

That 650cfm Eddie never lacked, gave more than enough, even under extreme demands. I was well over 100 topping 3rd, and 4th was good for 125+, in a 5,700 lbs truck!

To top it off I could AVERAGE 11 1/2 mpg with truck loaded to 8,000 pulling a 15,000 lb trailer all over the western states! 20+ mpg running empty, taking it easy!
