Message:   Yeah, I don't know why they added that extra protrusion on the clamp, early clamps did not have that bump. If you grind it off you'll ruin the chrome, you can pick up a universal type clamp, in chrome at any auto parts store for a few bucks.
As for the carb, I'd have recommended a 650 cfm Edelbrock Performer it's the old Carter AFB, or a Edelbrock Thunder series, it's the Carter AVS. Go to Edelbrock .com and read about the differences and see which one suits your usage and your type of intake manifold best.
