Message:   I'm guessing, but I suspect that the orange wire goes to the temperature sender, not the alternator,and the red wire goes to the coil if it's a big block engine. The black wire should be the largest one and have a ring terminal that goes to the output post on the alternator. The green wire should have a slip connector on it that slips on to the field post on the alternator.
