I have done this. I used to own a couple AMC Eagles and had some spare parts around. So I have a mid 80's AMC wiper motor and all the attending parts to make it work like it did in the AMC's. It wasn't a bolt in but I didn't have to do much work to make it fit. Variable wipers are very handy. Unfortunately I am going to have to make some repairs since I lost high speed on it and it quit for bit a couple times.
