Message:   If a diesel, on the average, offers a 30% increase
in mileage, I'd realize a 4.64% cost savings based on
our current gas & diesel prices [3.34/gal & 4.15/gal].
I understand for larger work vehicles [3/4 ton trucks
and bigger] you get the benefit of increased torque
but for a Liberty or Grand Cherokee or anything of
the like.... would you ever realize a true savings
based on the premise that you'd be ponying up at least
$2000-$3000 extra for a diesel? As Robin points out...
once the petroleum producers get a whiff of the big
push for diesel powered family vehicles.... they'll
more than likely jack the price up anyhow.
