Message:   RE: drilling heavy steel...

Years ago a guy came into my shop to drill a hole in an 8' foot diameter round of 3" plate steel that I'd just cut and welded up from 2 pieces. He grabbed the 1/2" Porter Cable and started threading in a 4' cheater bar assist. Old Hal Bryant, fine man, said, "Don't think ya wanna do that there, young fella...."

"Aw, Hal, I been working in shops with steel for years blah blah blah." Surprisingly he got about an inch deep before it grabbed and that cheater bar tossed him like a rag doll over 20' across the shop. Bruised more than his pride
