I also lean toward the 383 as a very desirable motor for all around general use. Never had one tho that got decent mileage.
For a heavy hauler truck I would go with the 440, altho the 413 and 361 are very attractive options. But piston availability for the 413 sucks.
Street machine, its hard to beat the 440, but the Hemi has more wow factor and is yet to be seen if it is quicker.
318's and 6's have no attraction whatsoever, unless I cant afford a real motor. (sorry Norm)
Diesel:
That's a whole 'nother world. In a swepty, incredible WOW, torque, speed, fuel economy. Wow is everyday, from pulling up to the diesel pump at the gas-n-go or truck stop, to that massive rattle noise at startup in the Safeway parking lot, to the dual exhaust black contrails as it screams up a steep grade in overdrive, turns heads and drops jaws daily.
