Message:   my take on the braces is to prevent the aluminum bell from breaking under heavy stress as in flexing between the engine-trans,and i think extra important if you have a 4x4 with a married t case,ive seen chevys with broken bells because of that,in later chevy 4x4s they changed the case and used a thick cast alum flywheel cover and strut rods tfrom the flywheel cover to the engine mounts to stop the bell from breaking,which is a sorta kinda copy of what dodge has had all along
