Message:   Hey, Frank, I found out there's at least 2 different types of release bearings when I tried to get one for the '67 Poly 318/NP435. Quite a difference in size. They showed me the one the book called for and it wasn't even a similar style to mine, in addition to wrong dimensions. Obviously if his is a different style the fork can't do the job. I've also had problems with the fork pivot ball stud and fork retainer spring on these. Sometimes takes some fiddling to get the fork retainer spring clip to lock over the ball stud.

Also, wrong pressure plate can make it impossible to get the clutch fork, release bearing etc. to jive, as there's different pressure plate fingers/arms heights to deal with.

I'd check the fork retainer spring and bellhousing ball stud first [easiest] then eyeball the release bearing/fork relationship. Make sure there's some play in the release bearing on the input shaft too, so the fork can get a hold of it.
