Message:   on my carter 2bbl the choke butterfly is hooked to the spring that sits inside the manifold and when it gets warm, the spring pulls the butterfly open, the vacuum diaphram is there to pull the choke off "just a little" when you first start it.
the other side of the choke butterfly is hooked to the high idle cam, it holds the rpms high when it is cold, and as it warms up, the choke pulls more open and the rpms fall back to normal idle
