Message:   I have a Power-Loc suregrip differential. (The clutch style) Anyway I bought it used on ebay. I have not had any problems with it. But, I am wondering what kind of sound the suregrip “should” make when it is working.

When I installed the suregrip I used Mopar suregrip lubricant (two bottles) as well as 90 weight gear oil.

The other day when I was driving my truck I made a hard left turn, the wheel was all the way over and I thought that the suregrip was making a ratcheting sound, that sounded like click click click click. It sounded just like a craftsman ratchet wrench. I am pretty sure that the sound came from the rear end.

Later when I made a hard right turn I heard the same thing, click click click click.

The differential does not make a sound when driving on the highway or when letting off of the gas at highway speed. It also makes no sound when accelerating.

So what is the click click click sound, is this normal? Does it sound like something that might have come from the differential?

Thanks,
Dave
